About Xella

What is Xella Health?

Xella Health is a women’s precision health platform designed to uncover the root causes behind symptoms, hormonal changes, fertility concerns, and long-term health risks — through advanced biomarker testing, personalized context and insights, and clinician-guided care.

Who is Xella for?

Xella is designed for women across almost every life stage, including those who:

  • Want a deeper understanding of their hormones and overall health
  • Feel dismissed or have been told their symptoms are “just stress”
  • Have received unclear or contradictory diagnoses or advice for their chronic symptoms
  • Are trying to conceive or planning for future fertility
  • Are managing postpartum recovery and lactation
  • Are navigating perimenopause or menopause
  • Want proactive, data-driven healthcare and prevention insights

What makes Xella different from traditional lab work?

Traditional lab work is often reactive, fragmented, and based on reference ranges that weren’t built around female biology or life stage. Xella takes a fundamentally different approach that is more personalized and proactive by combining advanced biomarker testing, female-specific insights, AI-powered pattern detection, clinician review and guidance, and longitudinal health tracking over time.

We analyze your biomarkers together, alongside your life stage, health history, goals, symptoms, and lifestyle data, to understand how your body is functioning as an interconnected system. The result is a more comprehensive understanding of a woman's biology that helps identify risks, root causes, and optimization opportunities that traditional approaches often miss.

Do I need symptoms to use Xella?

No. Many women use Xella proactively to better understand their biology, establish a baseline, optimize wellness, or identify potential health risks earlier.

What makes Xella focused specifically on women?

Xella was designed around the reality that female biology is dynamic. Hormones fluctuate monthly, fertility changes over time, pregnancy reshapes physiology, and the transition into perimenopause and menopause affects nearly every organ system.

Our platform incorporates female-specific biomarker interpretation, reproductive and hormonal health models, life-stage awareness, and a curated knowledge base of women's health research. We analyze health through the lens of how women's biological systems interact—not just whether an individual lab value is within range. Our models are also trained to catch the risk factors and signals of illness that present differently in women.

Does Xella diagnose medical conditions?

Xella is designed to provide advanced health insights, risk assessment, and personalized recommendations. It does not replace your physician or formally diagnose disease. If clinically significant findings are identified, Xella may recommend follow-up care or additional evaluation with a licensed healthcare provider.

Is Xella a replacement for my doctor?

No. Xella is designed to complement, not replace, your healthcare team by providing additional data, insights, and support. We can easily share your results and care plans with your existing providers.

Are there any populations that Xella can’t serve at this time?

Xella is not quite ready to optimally support women during pregnancy, but we are working on it, and will add this life-stage focus soon.

We are also unfortunately unable to accept Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, or any other federal health care program patients at this time, due to regulatory reasons. We will continue to work hard to provide access to all women in the future.

Your clinician may also recommend additional deep-dive testing or periodic re-testing of a subset of biomarkers (but not the entire core panel), as part of your plan. Every plan is truly personalized– not one-size-fits-all.

What we test

What does Xella test for?

Your core lab panel analyzes over 1 billion data points, including 100+ biomarkers across:

  • Hormones
  • Inflammation
  • Thyroid health
  • Bone health
  • Metabolic health
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Nutrients, antioxidants, and deficiencies
  • Fertility and reproductive health
  • Stress and recovery markers

Additional life-stage panels and multi-omic add-ons provide even greater depth when clinically relevant.

We integrate and analyze these biomarkers alongside your health history, goals, symptoms, and lifestyle data to identify patterns across interconnected symptoms, and help uncover early signs of imbalance, emerging risks, and opportunities for proactive intervention and optimization.

What is multi-omic testing?

Your health is influenced by many different biological systems working together. Multi-omic testing examines multiple layers of biology to create a more complete picture of what's happening inside your body.

For example:

  • Genomics looks at your DNA and inherited genetic risks and traits.
  • Transcriptomics examines which genes are currently active.
  • Proteomics measures proteins that reflect how your cells are functioning.
  • Metabolomics evaluates molecules involved in energy production, nutrition, and metabolism.
  • Hormone and clinical biomarker testing measures important indicators of reproductive, metabolic, cardiovascular, and overall health.

Each layer provides valuable information on its own, but when analyzed together, they can reveal patterns and relationships that would otherwise be missed.

While all of Xella’s analysis is multi-omic, our “Deeper Multi-omic Add-ons” will expand on standard biomarker testing by incorporating genomic insights that aren’t routinely available through commercial labs: examining your DNA to understand genetic predispositions and how epigenetic influences or your gene activity may be influencing your health. Combined with hormone, protein, and metabolic data, it provides the most comprehensive view of your biology available. (coming soon)

Does Xella use AI?

Yes. Xella uses AI-driven analysis to identify patterns and connections across your health data. Our AI models are clinically evaluated and trained by multiple expert physicians, and all clinically relevant insights are reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals before release to the patient portal; AI augments, but never replaces, your clinical team.

How accurate are your tests?

Our tests are processed in CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratories using clinical-grade equipment and methods. All results are reviewed by licensed clinicians.

the testing process

How does testing work?

After purchase, you’ll complete an intake and health questionnaire. Depending on your location and eligibility, sample collection may be completed through:

  • A local partner lab (Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp locations nationwide)
  • Mobile phlebotomy that comes to your home or office (available as an add-on)
  • At-home collection for select tests (coming Fall 2026)

Your samples are then processed and your results are analyzed and reviewed by licensed clinicians.

How long does it take to get results?

Most results are available within approximately 2-3 weeks after sample collection. You’ll receive a notification when your results are ready, and you can access them immediately through your secure digital dashboard.

What will I receive with my results?

Your results include:

  • A personalized health dashboard
  • Biomarker explanations in plain language, with any out of range or sub-optimal values flagged
  • Risk/probability screening for >130 conditions that uniquely, differently, or disproportionately impact women
  • Biological age insights
  • Certain Add-On modules also contain additional insight tools; for example, the Perimenopause Add-On comes with a Perimenopause Stage Assessment, and the Preconception & Fertility Add-On comes with a Personal Fertility Timeline Assessment
  • AI-powered interpretation with clinician review
  • Personalized recommendations
  • Suggested next steps and care pathways

Clinical support

Will I meet with a clinician?

Every membership includes one standard asynchronous consult and one follow-up asynchronous consult with a licensed clinician. This means the clinicians review your results and provide written clinical summaries and recommendations; they will usually also include a brief recorded video explaining their findings and perspective. You can add additional visits, including synchronous calls with your clinician, as needed, for a small fee, and can message your clinician as much as you need to for clarity around their findings and recommendations. Your clinician is a real individual assigned to your case, and will remain a consistent provider for you, as long as you remain happy with their care.

Can I message my care team?

Yes. On-demand messaging with your care team is included with your membership, so you can ask questions and get support between visits.

What if I need a specialist?

Our nationwide network is growing; we can make specialist referrals when needed, including dieticians, pelvic floor physical therapists, reproductive endocrinologists, gynecologic surgeons, endocrinologists, and more to come.

What is a Standard Consult vs. a Follow up Consult?

Every Xella Membership includes one Standard Consultation and one Follow-Up Consultation. A Standard Consult describes the initial review of any labs or clinical findings, and the provision of a corresponding treatment plan, which may include recommended prescription medications, as appropriate. A Follow-Up Consult is defined as any changes to an existing care plan, triggered by the patient, such as medication or dosing changes, or refill requests, that must be handled by a clinician. If a patient has not used their Follow-Up Consult after 6 months, Xella will send a proactive outreach to check in on your progress and needs.

Any questions to the clinician regarding your report interpretation or treatment plan, do not count as a consult. Further, supplements, lifestyle changes, and referrals are generally outlined in your patient portal, and are not considered part of a Standard or Follow Up Consult with the clinician.

If at any point you would like a clinician review of additional lab findings or a new prescription that were not covered as part of the initial Standard Consult, a new Standard Consult will be required. Additional Standard and Follow-Up Consults are available as Add-Ons at any time, and are provided at-cost (usually $35-60).

What is an Extended Care Visit?

An extended care visit is an add-on, synchronous appointment for members who need additional time with their clinician and want to talk through their case in real-time; for more complex health histories, deeper review of results, or coordinating care across multiple concerns. These will typically be handled as a phone call.

Can Xella prescribe medication?

Our licensed clinicians can prescribe medications when clinically appropriate, including hormone therapies, fertility medications, GLP-1s, thyroid medications, cardiometabolic medications, and other evidence-based interventions. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy. Compounded medications such as certain hormone therapies are available through Xella’s pharmacy partners and can be shipped to your door.

Are there any conditions that Xella can’t treat?

Yes. The Xella platform does not formally diagnose conditions, and some conditions require in-person exams, imaging, or hands-on care such as biopsies to make a formal diagnosis that cannot be properly provided via telehealth. In such cases, we will recommend a referral to in-person care, and provide education about what to expect.

Additionally, our current telehealth providers are primarily OB-GYNs and internal medicine; while they can manage and treat many conditions, certain conditions are better handled by specialists, even when medications can feasibly be prescribed virtually. We are working to expand our network of telehealth specialists, but in the meantime, we will refer you to an outside specialist when appropriate, to ensure you are getting the best care possible.
